The UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has confirmed a 25% increase in Gambling Commission operating licence fees. The adjustment will take effect to fund the regulator’s implementation of Britain’s gambling reforms.
Consultation Outcome and Funding Allocation
The decision follows the official response to a public consultation on commission fee structures, which opened on 27 January. Industry participants were invited to review the proposed financial changes before the final determination. The additional revenue will be allocated to cover the administrative costs associated with enforcing regulatory standards across the sector. The fee adjustment aligns with legislative updates currently being integrated into the UK gambling framework. Previous regulatory reviews established the need for expanded oversight capabilities to manage compliance with the requirements.
